Department of Education OPEN Center to Promote Compliance with Civil Rights Laws

The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) in the U.S. Department of Education announced the launch of the Outreach, Prevention, Education and Non-discrimination (OPEN) Center to focus on proactive compliance with federal civil rights laws. While OCR typically enforces federal civil rights laws through the traditional complaint-resolution process, the new Center will focus on outreach, education, and support to improve understanding of civil rights issues.
