“Some Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) Buildings Need ‘Major’ Improvements for Disabilities Access”

MCPS recently released a new “data dashboard” that shows how well each school complies with the ADA, which requires public agencies to ensure “people with disabilities [may] arrive on site, approach the building or facility and its amenities and enter as freely as everyone else.” The report, which evaluated 198 school buildings, shows that 16 schools’ interior features require “major capital investment” to comply, and most schools’ exteriors need a moderate amount of work.
