Maryland: M&T Bank Will Pay $100,000 to Settle EEOC Disability Discrimination Lawsuit

Manufacturers and Traders Trust Company (M&T Bank), will pay $100,000 and take other actions to resolve a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

According to the EEOC's lawsuit, the company filled the position of an M&T branch manager who needed surgery and time off for a pregnancy-related disability, but when the branch manager was ready to return to work, the company refused to reassign her to any of at least 24 vacant branch manager or assistant branch manager positions that were available in the greater Baltimore region at the time.
