People with hearing loss regularly face barriers to communication access in the workplace. With over 48 million Americans with a hearing loss, discrimination in the workplace is a serious problem. Application of the ADA to applicants and employees with hearing loss who have experienced rejection of their applications, harassment on the job, demotion, and termination of employment is evolving. This presentation addresses the legal rights of applicants and employees with hearing loss and the legal obligations of employers in dealing with these individuals in the workforce. Also presented are available resources for managing the employer-employee relationship.
